It was a collaborated project by AUDI, CSIR-CMERI, and IIT Bombay, India. The work included the design and testing of the hollow crankshaft using ANSYS software. The design was used to mimic simulated testbed results, make corrections to them, and redesign them with changes in parameters. Finally, the project dealt with making a correct and effective sample at the laboratory workshop. The miniature model was tested under various conditions and parameters and upon satisfactory results, it was proposed to be used by automotive giants.
