I have been working in the field of structural drafting since 1988 when I began an apprenticeship for a Steel Fabricator in the UK. In 1997 my employer in the UK sent me for training on use of X-Steel, now Tekla. As the first employee in the company to receive the training I had to quickly learn how to extract what we/I wanted out of the software. This is something I have continued to do over the last 26 years I have been using Tekla, customizing modeling, detailing, reporting as well as working with programmers to develop new or enhance existing connection macros. I also have experience in developing custom workflows to increase productivity as well as to assist in collaboration on projects.In the 35 years I have been in steel detailing I have worked on many projects from 1 to 40,000 tons globally such as sports stadia, mines inc crushers & conveyors, hotels, high rises, hospitals, bridges, canopies, ducting, pre engineered buildings, misc. projects Inc hand railing, ladders, grating and other flooring materials as well as curved and spiraled stairs and ramps and more. My experience is not limited to one way of doing things but many ways as a result of working with many fabricators throughout the UK, US and Canada. Nor is my experience focused on the detailing of structures alone, also estimating, project management, scheduling, materials procurement, preparing RFI’s and Extras and other day to day communication in relation to the projects I have been involved in. Recently i have gained experience in 3d scanning & processing to allow field conditions to be included in drawings and fabricated steel, increasing the accuracy and quality of work and saving time in the field.Past projects:
