As the Test Development Engineer at Cobham it is my role to support all aspects of product verification testing, providing support to production departments both locally and offsite for ATE diagnostics, maintenance and assistance with diagnosis of faulty UUTs, whilst developing both current and future Automated Test Systems. Our ATEs use a combination or PXI, GPIB, RS232, USB and Ethernet controlled devices and run TestStand routines executing mainly LabVIEW VIs with a bias to electrical testing. It is my responsibility to specify the ATE architecture and purchase hardware in order to fulfill the requirements of the ATS and then write the code to implement the ATS, and author/maintain the ATSs derived from the PVT agreed with the customer. I also provide applications to aid the production process such as programming utilities and tools to aid in validation for product design engineers and integration and test engineers. Furthermore, I design, create and maintain databases and applications to store results and aid in process control with applications to extract data for review or SPC analysis.

Cobham Defence Communications, April 2008 – Oct. 2010 As the Test Engineer it is my role to ensure that all the products that are manufactured by our company are fully tested and functional before dispatch and to diagnose and repair both production faults and customer returns. As Team Leader it was my role to oversee and support/train a team of skilled test and diagnostics engineers working on a wide variety of products. My duties include implementing and specifying test methodology; authoring work instructions and PTSs; training operators to utilize automated test equipment; maintaining, servicing and repairing ATE and test equipment; to liaise with and support customers with ATE; support and training of test engineers to test, diagnose and repair product down to component level; manufacture and assembly of ATE; providing feed back for product improvement and managerial tasks such as statistical process control in order to reduce both production faults and in service failures; analytical diagnosis analysis to ascertain the root cause of the failure.
