The Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission provides leadership, education and financial support for the protection, preservation and interpretation of resources related to the story of copper mining on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula.

Worked as primary investigator in a cooperative project between Keweenaw National Historical Park (KEWE), Isle Royale National Park, the Midwest Archeological Center, and Michigan Technological University. The project is two-fold. First, to assess and inventory the cultural resources and significance of roughly 150 acres owned by the National Park Service (managed by KEWE) associated with the Quincy Mining Company's historic mining activities. Second, to survey historically known but unverified sites of mining on Isle Royale, and then synthesize and contextualize the archaeology of Isle Royale's historic mining activities within contemporary activities found on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The results of the project are property assessments for KEWE, GIS databases of archival and archaeological data, and general publications for ISRO and the State Historic Preservation Office/State Archaeologist of Michigan.

I taught Archaeological Field Methods in the Department of Social Sciences at Michigan Tech. I also taught History of the Copper Country: a local history course focused on the historic mining landscape of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, as well as Global Issues—a whirlwind tour of globalization for first year undergraduate students seen through the lenses of culture, politics, economics, environment, and development.

As a PhD and MS student I worked in several local cultural resource management projects in conjunction with the State of Michigan, the National Park Service, and local land and heritage agencies consisting of monitoring, phase I-III survey and documentation, and emergency mitigation.
