Tug CaptainBennett'S Barges Jan 2019 - Jan 2020London, United KingdomBennett's Barges in conjunction with Aggregate Industries are undertaking the transportation and removal of tunnel spoil along the River Thames.Working on behalf of Tideway, the main contractor responsible for the construction of London's new super sewer, Bennett's Barges utilise the new Tideway class barges, with payloads ranging between 1000 - 1600 tons. These purpose built barges are pushed along the river between loading and off loading sites, using Twin screw Nav tugs.Prerequisites for my Tug Captains role included the successful completion of a 4 day Tideway Master Course run by HR Wallingford ship simulation centre, as well as gaining River Thames Local Knowledge Endorsement - Port of London - Thames Waterman.
