Corazón is a volunteer, physician-supervised, student-led medical clinic with the mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services to the disadvantaged and transient population in downtown San Antonio, and empowering both volunteers and students to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of the community we serve.

Selected as one of seven seniors at the University of Texas at San Antonio for an NIH/NIGMS-funded RISE (Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement) program designed to assist undergraduate researchers to prepare and subsequently attain their doctoral degrees in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Advanced Biophotonics and Nanotechnology and Nano Biomaterials and Rathbone Tissue Engineering laboratories researching novel treatment for triple negative breast cancer and advanced wound healing therapies.

Selected for the summer undergraduate research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in the Regenerative Dermatology and Skin Aging Laboratory under Dr. Saranya Wyles. I studied the role of cellular senescence in wound healing using the INK-ATTAC mouse model. I conducted analysis of H&E and RNA-ISH stained tissues and performed RT-qPCR. I worked extensively with Qupath, ImageJ, and R to complete quantitative analysis.

NeoLife Physical Therapy and Wellness is an orthopedic manual therapy intensive clinic founded on a family culture, ethical responsibility, and a culture of “doing it the right way”, and addressing the root causes of pain and dysfunction with a hands-on treatment approach. At the Bay St. Louis location, I was the sole physical therapy technician under the expert guidance of Dr. Tyler Hughes. Our small clinical team provided services such as orthopedic injury rehabilitation, sports rehabilitation, injury prevention, sports performance and other specialty skills.During my time at NeoLife, it was my job to directly assist the physical therapist with patient interactions. This included movement assistance, therapy guidance, charting, and inventory/supply tracking. Having a two-person team addressing a full patient load gave me the unique advantage of being highly active during patient interactions and experiencing a wide variety of therapeutic approaches. It also allowed me to receive direct, professional guidance from my supervising DPT.

As a SWCC, my primary role was in insertion and extraction of special operations personnel via advanced maritime combatant-craft.
