At C6 I worked as a product design engineer in team team of engineers developing an electro-mechanical tool for the oil and gas industry.It’s like sending something to the moon, it cannot fail in operation and must perform in an extremeenvironment - high temperature (200°C) and high pressure (20000PSI). With these requirements I am pushing the materials and technologies available today to their limits.My role at C6 involves: Analysing and Benchmarking current market solutions Creating Specifications Concept Generation & Selection Prototyping Design for manufacture Holding design reviews and presentations Creating Working drawings ( API Standards (tight tolerances) ) Procuring production of components Managing of sub suppliers Assembly of prototypes and sub assembles components (electronics, wiring and hydraulics ) Design of test apparatus Creating and executing testing plans Evaluation and further development

At Leckey design I was brought in with the objective to help the company bring in the standard - ISO 13485 (medical device standard) certified (much more detailed certification than ISO 9000). My role was to help take all the CAD files and to bring it up-to-date with the company’s new MRP system (Sage1000). This involved fixing file storage, file revision, assembly structure, use of common files, screws / fixings etc. So that the CAD assemblies would reflect the actual structures of the production items. As well as my main task, I was given the opportunity to do a lot of quality control. This involved me taking parts that had been out sourced, looking at the part, finding where its location and function in the full products was and working drawings. I measured and checked the parts and either approved or reject samples of production parts depending on previously mentioned factors. I was also lucky enough during my time at Leckey to help out with the production of a prototype of a new product that was going to be launched.
