In nearly a decade of non-profit, mission based lending and business technical assistance I have had the privilege of directly funding nearly two million in small business micro-loans. My work includes a blended role of lender, loan underwriter, business consultant, and economic developer. As part of my consulting work, there have been roughly five thousand hours logged to date. Consulting time is spent providing direct technical assistance to applicants and current borrowers. This includes assistance to startups and expansions, as well as troubled business retention. The variety of businesses I have assisted is wide-ranging. These include manufacturing and 3D printing, restaurants and auto repair shops, child care, and even a shaved ice stand! What's great about this industry reach and breadth is I have learned as much or more about business from my clients as they have learned from my assistance. Business credit analysis is also a primary focus of mine in my current role. In mission lending we have to weigh our desired economic impact right along with the prospects and qualifications of our applicants.Outside of my employment, I enjoy many outdoor activities as well as volunteering. My profile background includes a photo from a day I spent volunteering for Bemidji Area Take a Kid Fishing. I'm currently looking for ways to expand my volunteering that supports youth in our area.
