I have vast experience (20 years) in South African retail banking, having worked in all major personal business market segments, ranging from the Youth Market, Low Income, Middle Market, Affluent Market and some Private Client experience. On the business side, I have covered portfolios from Small Medium and Micro enterprises through to businesses with turnovers under a Billion Rand in turnover.Having grown and developed through the ranks of Standard Bank, I have gained experience in a multitude of areas outside of my direct responsibilities. These include various government developmental initiatives, low income housing projects, SAP IT core banking renewal, developmental finance projects and Enterprise Development initiatives. The various roles I have undertaken over the years have been multi-faceted, covering roles which have included building new initiatives, running and growing businesses as well as various turn around initiatives. Of the toughest challenges was running a R40bn plus personal and business lending portfolio through the height of the 2008 financial crisis, which was a once in a lifetime experience. Restoring profitability and restructuring the income statement to maintain profitability through the crisis was an achievement and a highlight of my career. The business continues to benefit today from the structural changes made during this time. I am passionate about making a difference in the organisations I am employed and in the lives of people with whom I work.
