I have 19 year's experience in the design field. I started working at Struik Publishers (now Penguin Random House) as a typesetter working on lifestyle books. I was promoted to junior designer after a year and then moved to another division within the company as a designer.I left after 2.5 years and freelanced for a few months at Cosmopolitan magazine and then worked for Marie Claire as their senior designer.I was appointed senior designer at New Media Publishing working on all their motoring titles. within a few months I was promoted to art director. I worked at the company for 2.5 years fulltime where I learnt more about editorial design, engaging magazine layouts, art directing photo shoots, briefing photographers and illustrators, working within various teams on multiple titles, dealing with clients and managing budgets. During this time I was asked by Penguin Random House to design their marketing material on a freelance basis.I made the decision to go freelance and worked for and with New Media for another 9 years. During this time, I also worked on various magazines for Media24, The Player Group and Conde Nast. I opened my design business in 2018 grew my list of clients.Throughout my career I have had a very good and successful relationship with Penguin Random House. The work has grown (in quantity) over the years. They're an amazing team so I'm very fortunate.
