Ever since I was a kid I've loved projecting and displaying a positive face. Creating an environment that radiates inclusion, acceptance, and humor is what I strive to do as I walk through the world. Community makes people get up in the morning, and I feel it is my job to contribute to my communities in ways that bring people in and build them up.My life mission is to make wherever I go a place that emanates good energy. I like to see people succeed and I like to help people succeed. I've been a peer mentor, and I've been labeled as a role model by many mentors and authority figures in my life- I know how it feels to be the person who can influence someone else who is struggling. I also know what it's like to be on the other side of the coin, growing up in a rough environment with a single parent who had a volatile income and living on food stamps not knowing whether I'll have a place to live for the next month or not.Think of me as a relief pitcher, I need some time to get my roots down and know where I stand, but once I'm ready, I put out results. Whenever I find myself in a new environment I notice that I'm more reserved in comparison to when I find myself a year later in that same environment. I believe I'm someone who likes to observe, take notes, process, and then act. This is a change from when I was a kid- I would act first and think later- thinking before acting is a skill I'm proud to have grown into.I'm a lifelong learner, I spend my free time playing bass and guitar, watching documentaries relating to history and politics, and building fantasy worlds and characters with my close friends. I read fantasy novels for fun, but also because I like consuming media for inspiration to use in my creative endeavors. I'm an avid music listener- always exploring new genres and immersing myself in different cultures through songs. I'm a nerd who loves to take notes and ask questions. Ask any of my employers, they'll tell you that I show up to the first week with a notepad.Professionally, my end goal is to work as a high school counselor. I'm a coach at heart, I like watching and supporting people in their growth through life.
