Environmental Engineering Intern
Oshawa, On
As an environmental engineering intern I developed soft and hard skills through a variety of tasks. A list of some of the common tasks can be seen below.- Updated multiple historically neglected MS Excel spreadsheets to improve task and speed and simplify task difficulty for future employees.- Using AutoCAD, I developed a master site drawing highlighting sewers, and catch basins to assist first responders in the event of an emergency spill situation.- Conducted safety walks across the plant floor to maintain regulatory compliance and to guarantee safety of workers. Any discovered non-compliant situations were discussed with applicable contractors and solved quickly- Summarized federal and provincial environmental regulations that may be applicable to Canadian GM sites, and shared said summaries with all applicable parties- Conducted chemical cost audits of applicable contractors on a monthly basis- Using MS Excel; analyzed minute to minute data of five separate furnaces to guarantee emission destruction levels required by regulations - Under the guide of environmental water officer; created quarterly compliance water quality reports- Coordinated, recorded minutes and ran weekly environmental meetings- Expanded scope due to unexpected retirees, personnel reductions, and employee redistribution after plant closure announcement
