I write software. I've found this fun ever since I could type in the BASIC programs from the back of computer magazines. Application level, at all levels within that. Data modeling, data access, REST, and UI.I started in C/C++ for the higher level functionality of OOP with the power of easily interfacing with C libraries (and the OS). I learned to love Java through use on large applications, since it has safety features C++ doesn't have, Hibernate pulls relational databases and OOP together (though frequently turning a hard problem into a harder problem), and Java 5 and 6 made Java into a language programmers could want to use. I've gotten into functional programming in Scala, which brings so many academic and safety ideas together, like immutability and static type checking. All of my Scala/Java experience is with IntelliJ.Specialties: Java, Scala, C++, Javascript (jQuery, ext), Windows, Linux, two-factor authentication, SSL/TLS, and development tools (junit, easymock, svn, git, and so many more).
