Assistant Director
I managed day-to-day gallery operations while cultivating and maintaining relationships with gallery artists, clients and collectors. I was also responsible for organizing and coordinating exhibitions, selling artwork, and the organization and maintenance of gallery space / storage. The position was heavily oriented towards Art handling: exhibit installation, storage, shipping and packing. I also designed marketing initiatives and materials for both digital and print, Implement marketing and PR plan, draft press releases and correspondence, and manage the gallery's social media presence. On the more technical side I maintained the daily sales journal, organize loans and consignments between other institutions or individuals, orversee and updating the website, and maintain inventory of all artwork. I was also responsible for supervising our summer interns.
Exhibition Consultant
Worked with galleries on upcoming installations, gallery maintenance, and art handling.
Assistant Director - Sandbox
Worked closely with the Director of SANDBOX to execute all aspects of the program as outlined by the founding grant of $575,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This included selecting and assisting visiting artists each semester, locating housing and studio space, planning receptions, curating 21 exhibitions, and managing four student staff. Coordinated a campus wide keynote lecture each year, as well numerous smaller lectures and presentations. Hosted annual board meetings and various dinners for distinguished guests. Functioned as a liaison between the college’s initiatives and the town. Partnered with community and college collaborators on the first annual RiverFest; 2,000 people attended. Researched and produced text for a number of grants. Managed the budget and contributed to the yearly reports required by the Mellon Foundation.
Assistant Curator
As Assistant Curator at Kohl Gallery I fill a variety of technical and administrative roles. Foremost, I supervise and assist in the installations and de-installs throughout the academic year. This includes everything from organizing an installation schedule and working with the artists, to physically handling and installing the work myself. I also handle the lighting of the artwork for each exhibition. In the weeks leading up to our exhibitions, I research material for wall text labels, and other auxiliary texts we may choose to produce. Between shows I refurbish the gallery space. In some cases walls must be re-arranged or repairs must be executed after larger installation pieces are removed. However, the majority of the work involves patching holes and re-painting the space. The second major responsibility is the management of the intern program. I develop the schedules for open hours and delegate research and installation tasks during our prep-times. During downtime between shows I work with Head Curator, Alex Castro, on strategic planning for future shows and Kohl Gallery operations.
Curatorial Intern
Worked closely with the Gallery Director, the Chief Curator, and the Exhibition Designer on the planning and execution of major fine art exhibitions at Kohl Gallery.
Admissions Ambassador
Provided tours, worked open houses, and met with prospective students of Washington College.
Curatorial Intern
Assisted with exhibition research, preparation, and installation. Also assisted with the Museum's Development office.
Head Lifeguard And Pool Operator
My main job was to manage the summer lifeguard staff and the schedules. I worked with the Community manager to improve operations for the pool's patrons. I also maintained chemical levels.
