In the world of graphic design, there will always be new ways to go about creating. Learning how to adapt, and being comfortable in unfamiliar situations is a big part in becoming a successful designer. With the growth of technology, varying opinions, and social media platforms, it is crucial to stay up to date. Research, along with trial and error helps me significantly when it comes to understanding newer aspects of design.Take, for example, my most recent project. I wanted to challenge myself with something I had very little knowledge of. Today, NFTs are becoming a huge part of social media and the growing crypto market. For graphic designers, the opportunity to build a platform with them is substantial. Many don’t know about the NFT market or even what they are. Neither did I, but I wanted to create my own collection that could be sold. Originally, I was so confused about where even to start, but I wanted to use this project as a chance to educate myself on something that is only just scratching the surface of its potential. Following countless hours of research, I developed the idea for my collection. The idea was clock characters illustrations that appear differently based on the time assigned to them. Sketching, helped me create a base model that each clock would use. This then led to Illustrator, where I was able to add different attributes and colors to make each of them stand out. After I got the idea for the clocks down I focused more on the identity and logo for the collection. Using mock-ups, I was able to create different layouts showing what it would look like if my characters were already on the open market.Ever since I was little I was in love with the aspect of graphic design. My dad was and continues to be a huge influence to me with staying up to date. Whether that be sending me different design current events, or something as simple as a company’s new logo. The desire I have to learn and become a better designer is something that I try to show in all of my work. I look forward to embracing my future challenges, and seeing what they can do for me as a graphic designer.
