I oversee CPL’s research releases, manage media relations, and direct CPL’s digital communications.

At CalNonprofits, I reinvigorated the communications strategy to attract new nonprofit member organizations, better engage our existing supporters, and strengthen our advocacy and policy campaigns.

My communications work ensured that CRC's experts, research, and advocacy campaigns were cited in over 100 unique media citations each year. At CRC, I helped write, edit, and place Op-Eds in American Banker, The Hill, The San Jose Mercury News, HousingWire, LA Daily News, Capital & Main, CA Progress Report, Rooflines, San Diego Free Press and TruthOut. In addition to report editing and layout, I also designed 3 mini-websites in Wordpress to support our advocacy campaigns, and secured a Google AdWords grant that generated more than 80,000 website visitors. During my first 3 years at CRC, I managed a $350,000 portfolio of 9 grants, including proposals and reporting.

I managed day-to-day operations of a coalition-led foreclosure prevention program serving San Jose and Sunnyvale. Responsibilities included program development, management of volunteers, marketing of the program to potential clients, quarterly reporting, and managing a steering committee of coalition members.

At the National Center on Caregiving, I wrote a bi‐monthly newsletter for leaders in the aging and disability world (Caregiving PolicyDigest) and created a new annual policy report I envisioned, "Family Caregiving: Year in Review." (2010 and 2011). I monitored legislation at the state and federal levels around issues important to family caregivers, including Alzheimer's research, long-term care, nursing homes, direct care workforce development issues, and Medicaid and Medicare. I maintained FCA's legislative center, where we tracked state and federal legislation impacting family caregivers. I provided technical assistance to service providers, media, policymakers, and researchers and assisted 25 caregivers a month through telephone consultations about long‐term care. I also assisted with improving our social media presence, for example, through a "30 Days of Caregiving" campaign we hosted on FCA's blog with guest posts from leaders in the caregiving world.

•Re-structured program in the midst of foreclosure crisis to meet high demand for services.•Taught a bi-monthly foreclosure class to over 250 homeowners; created a Web site that centralized information helpful for homeowners facing foreclosure.•Managed 4 staff members, instituted quarterly reviews and increased staff development.•Submitted monthly, quarterly, and end-of-grant reports to funders; wrote and assisted with successful grant applications totaling over $100,000.

•Worked with local government leaders on the first in-depth analysis of the state’s first two tax-increment financed (TIF) projects; analyzed contracts and bond offerings of the projects to create a TIF Financing Section of the School of Government Web site. •Summarized academic research on methods of elections (at-large vs. district; partisan vs. non-partisan; run-off vs. plurality) and form of government (council manager vs. mayor council) for local government leaders who were considering changing systems.

•Monitored legislation affecting low and middle-income taxpayers; provided administrative support for successful campaign to pass a state EITC.•Wrote and researched reports on decreasing affordability of community college for adults and policy models to reduce property tax burden on poor, elderly, and disabled.

I was selected for a nationally competitive one-year fellowship focused on innovative, sustainable policy solutions for addressing domestic poverty. I staffed a coalition of community leaders to formulate a three-year food security plan for Miami Dade County and assisted with outreach for the Greater Miami Prosperity Campaign.I authored "Hungry in Florida: Three Options in Florida's Food Stamp Program to Alleviate Poverty and Improve Food Security" and co-authored "Screening Tools to Help Families Access Public Benefits."
