Developed semi-annual and quarterly roadmaps with Product counterparts including levels of effort, delivery time frames, and resource constraints such that we could deliver the most company value in the short and long term. Actively managed and ran bi-weekly sprint planning sessions and daily stand-ups for two engineering tracks.*Insight track (Reporting and Measurement)*- Coordinated engineering efforts across two teams. One team was devoted to low-latency dashboards within our Reporting application (Ember.js on top of Django services). The second team was focused on providing interactive reports across 400+ metrics, also available within our Reporting application via Looker on top of Redshift.- Worked closely with our Data Platform team to collectively deliver immediate near real time stats within our application to provide a snapshot for current initiative & campaign performance & pacing. *Core Application and Services track (Infrastructure)*- Lead two engineering teams to deliver and maintain core infrastructure to support all application development towards a micro-service based SOFEA architecture. The Core Services team was devoted to developing and maintaining services (Django) available for use across the entire organization including authentication, authorization, user management, account & token management, etc. The Core Application team was responsible for common frontend (Ember.js) application architecture including global navigation, common components, dependency maintenance, user auth, etc.- Responsible for coordinated releases across services & product/engineering tracks and worked with our QA team to ensure prompt software delivery.- Monitored and reduced AWS costs by providing alternative technical solutions and deprecating non-critical systems.- Maintained architecture diagrams and engineering guidelines for SOX and SOC 2 compliance and ensured that engineering practices were adhering to outlined compliance guidelines.

Ran the day-to-day management SocialCode's large Applications team to deliver Performance, a new Ad Tech product offering that operated across social networks. This management included running bi-weekly sprint planning and daily standups.Promoted and gained adoption for improved engineering practices to help the entire engineering org level-up. This included the adoption of gitflow, improved testing guidelines and test coverage monitoring, improved data encryption, security monitoring, and error and latency monitoring via New Relic.

Lead a team to classify content tweeted by users into any combination of over 6000 topics and "pick" that content into topically backed troves. This project was dubbed Smartpick and was responsible for a vast majority in "picking" behavior in 2015.Engineering representative for on a small team responsible for active user acquisition. Due to the success of Smartpick and Smartpick enabled outreach, we were on pace to exceed 2015 annual goals.Trove was fully acquired by our sister company, SocialCode, in November, 2015.

Technical lead for a notifications platform capable of reaching out to 30+ million users in real time or batch processes across multiple mediums—email, iOS notifications, Facebook notifications, Android notifications, SMS messages.Engineer on the Trove API team, providing personalized news aggregation and curation on a per-user basis for multiple user-facing applications.

Designed and engineered an API powering the Washington Post's @MentionMachine, capable of real-time tracking mentions of political candidates and other topics on Twitter. For each political candidate the API was capable of exposing the number of tweets over time, highlighting unusual spikes in twitter mentions, and exposing the most relevant tweets for various time periods and traffic spikes.Engineer on the Trove API team, providing personalized news aggregation and curation on a per-user basis for multiple user-facing applications.Technical lead for creating editorial tools capable of promoting news and general topical content across multiple applications, as well as fine tuning news aggregation on a topical basis.Worked in a small team to create a data warehouse linking Omniture and DoubleClick data to provide section and page level revenue analysis for washingtonpost.com

Point person to create operational test plans for the 2010 Census.

Working under Dr. St. Amant I developed P2A which translates valid PDDL definitions and plans (optional) to create ACT-R cognitive models. Currently we are using ACT-R cognitive models as the basis for AI goal recognition. We are also using cognitive models to reduce interruption costs in mixed-initiative interfaces.
