I coordinate curriculums across math, science and STEM to provide our students with amazing and influential learning opportunities. I also plan and teach math and STEM lessons every week. I do this, along with my colleagues, two-thirds of the time virtually and one-third of the time in-person, on campus in either Charlton, Massachusetts or Chateau Le Sallay in France.

I engage students each day in learning and thinking opportunities. I am also a grade and school leader in planning and implementing math and science curriculum.

I designed creative, highly engaging multi-lesson middle school units based on grade specific learning objectives. I collaborated with curriculum developers, software designers and visual designers to create applets, workspace tools and interactive images that propel student learning. I worked with our practice and assessment team to ensure that every problem provided to students adhered to strict standards. I researched math and technology content standards and pedagogical developments in order to deliver the highest quality and most cutting-edge product possible. Unfortunately this position ended when the company downsized and cut a vast majority of the math department.

I worked with a seven-member team to motivate, teach and guide sixth through eighth graders. I taught math, sixth grade through Algebra 1 and Geometry. I developed the middle school math curriculum and chose Connected Math 3 and technology based projects as instruments to improve math instruction. I organized community service projects and built relationships with community organizations. I worked with team to create Global Citizenship class/project that focuses students’ attention on ways to create positive change in our world. I collaborated on an inter-school grant to obtain twenty iPads to be used for Project Based Learning and cross-curricular projects.

I taught private and semi-private two-hour lessons at Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Figure Eight Island. I led weekly camps for up to fifteen youth and/or adult campers. I led teams of up to five instructors when running the weekly camps and day camps.

For one year I taught at Pine Valley Elementary School in a self-contained classroom. I worked with team to classify fifth grade into same level grouping for math and language arts instruction. I was the only fifth grade teacher to have every student improve on EOGs and pass the Language Arts section. At Williston Middle School I taught science and/or math to all student academic levels in two to four member teams for three years. I was continually an early adopter of new technology including Smartboard technology and software based science programs. I taught extra math class to students who needed to improve standardized test scores. I attended an NCCAT weeklong session with my team to generate a yearlong, cross-curricular, thematic sixth grade curriculum.

I taught third and fifth grade in a self-contained classroom covering all major content areas including language arts, math, science, social studies and health. I created unit plans, assessments, graphic organizers and other materials as needed. I used technology in conjunction with lesson plans to improve student learning.
