Marist Catholic High School

I taught high school athletes the fundamentals, rules, and strategy of the game. My goals for the season were to help make the team more successful than previous years, to better the reputation of Marist Lacrosse within the school and the community, and to share my knowledge and experience as a lacrosse player with other students of the game.

Fbp Native Plant Nursery

I prepared, planted, and maintained plots of native floral species to be reintroduced back into the Howard Buford Recreation Area. I removed invasive species, collected wild seed in the park with Jason Blazar, set up the nursery for events, represented the nursery at volunteer outreach events, presented a description of my work to my peers, and performed day to day duties around the nursery under the supervision of the resident steward, Hal Hushbeck. I also produced a native plant guide for nursery use, documented native pollinators, and worked closely with the local botanist, Jon Koenig, on identifying various species that inhabit the park.

Eugene, Oregon Area

I connected with community partners to conduct research in the Long Tom watershed outside of Eugene, Oregon. I helped to write and edit our study on the implementation of woody debris in the Middle Makenzie Side Channel. Our work was published in the Oregon Undergraduate Research Journal. Additionally, I conducted a presentation with another member of our team to communicate the work we completed.

I worked closely with young athletes to hone their technical skills and make them better lacrosse players, stronger competitors, and better people.
