In 2013, the New York State Publishers Association named me the top overall columnist in the state for a series of my monthly "Our Turn" columns. A 1996 graduate of the State University of New York College at New Paltz, I worked for a weekly newspaper out of college before moving on to the Rutland (VT) Herald, where I covered sports.
