Edited Thailand’s most widely read English-language magazine. Wrote a weekly Editor’s Note, a popular feature aimed directly at the readers of the magazine. Wrote weekly responses to Letters to the Editor from readers – a feature in which readers often asked for advice – of which I was very proud. Wrote periodic feature stories, as well as movie and music reviews.Assigned and edited more than 1,000 stories and features that generated hardcopy sales, and global social-media and web links that increased distribution and website hits up to 80%, both regionally (Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea) and worldwide.Assigned and edited online and print content for Student Weekly’s 50th anniversary issue, which generated the highest commercial ad sales, largest distribution and most website hits in the magazine’s history. Initiated a total website and print redesign that, most importantly, involved the hiring of a gifted photographer and the use of 99% in-house-generated cover images and content photographs. Designed and overhauled editorial and art department guidelines, which made Student Weekly one of the only magazines and websites in the kingdom to have exclusive cover and content images for most stories – this without the cost of bowing to repeated demands from celebrity representation for appearance and/or modeling fees.Oversaw a period of the magazine’s history when free textbooks and learning materials were distributed throughout the kingdom. Despite the initial hit to distribution, Student Weekly was able to rebound and increase sales.Spearheaded and supervised several redesigns of the print edition, generating more interest and sales, keeping the magazine fresh.Oversaw daily social media marketing on Facebook and Twitter. Monitored web design team and website metrics. Set and maintained yearly budgets, including staff pay and evaluations, freelance contractors, and negotiated and contracted syndicated content.
