Work From Home (With Some Travel)

Working for a major US company on contract to help architect, design, and implement a cloud brokerage offering using numerous tools including HPe OO, HPe CSA, HPe AM, HPe SM, HPe Sitescope, HPe uCMDB, and several others. My primary role is the Automation Lead (HPe CSA and HPe OO) for this project. My other primary role is the Software Lead for this engineering team of 13 engineers. In this role, I work daily with the individual source matter experts (SMEs) of the various tools getting their questions answered on requirements and needs of the overall "big picture" of the project. I also work daily with the Lead Engineer, Lead Architect, and project upper management acting as a technical liaison between them and the engineering team for comments, design considerations, architectural questions, etc.

* Major US Telecomm Operator

** Successfully undertook and documented the initial discovery of requirements for two HP Operations Orchestration projects:
**** HPSM Patch Event Ticket Automation – Automation of HP Service Manager Change ticket creation associated with patching events. This includes creating, dispatching, and closure of the related work Tasks assigned to a specific Change ticket.
**** HPSA OS Provisioning Automation - Automation of HP Server Automation OS Provisioinig actions to provision Red Hat Enterprise Linux on ESX virtual machines and Solaris LDOMs running Solaris 10.
** As the discovery phase came to completion, successfully rewrote the existing Statement of Work to account for the newly agreed upon requirements for both projects.
** Successfully researched, designed, and implemented the HP Operations Orchestration workflows providing integration between HP Service Manager and HP Server Automation. Workflows required heavy use of custom WSDL/SOAP based interaction with the external HP Service Management API interfaces.
** Provided technical management over the HPSA OS Provisioning Automation project.
** Received a perfect Custom Satisfaction score (20 out of 20) on recent Custom Satisfaction survey.
** Customer Satisfaction and positive working relationship with customer allowed for new Statement of Work to be requested for continuing working on new projects. Developed a majority of the Statement of Work elements and proposed delivery schedule.

* Major US Cable Operator - Virginia
** Successfully rebuilt and remeshed an accidentally destroyed SA 7.85 secondary core which helps to manage over 6000+ remote objects.
** Successfully built a SA 9.00 SA multi-master mesh environment over Oracle RAC including slice, satellites, and secondary core component servers.
** Installed a OO 9.00.05 environment over stand alone Oracle environment.
** Developed a wide variety of OO flows including:
- JSON Processing
- WSDL/SOAP based web service processing with complex XML arguments capability (not an out of the box OO capability)
- Automated SA OS Build Sequence Provisioning Testing Harness
- OO->SA->Remote Server execution examples
** Provided training/mentoring on OO flow development techniques many of which are not discussed in HP provided OO guides

* HP Hardware Partners
** Successfully integrated HP Opsware Server Automation (HP SA) with HP Cloud Server Automation for Matrix (HP CSAM) for fully hands off OS provisioning managed through HP CSAM. Work included detail debugging of obscure issues with the embedded HP Opsware Operations Orchestration (HP OO) environment and its interoperability with SiteScope.

* Major US Cable Operation - Denver/Virginia
** Successfully helped a major US cable operator to realize quantifiable ROI via the utilization of HP Opsware Operations Orchestration, Server Automation, and Network Automation.
** Architected and developed Opsware Operations Orchestration and Server Automation work flows and scripts that had influence across over 3000+ servers distributed across the US. Majority of work focused on over 1,300 IBM servers running Red Hat AS 4.
** Architected a flow embedded near real-time textual-logging solution for Operations Orchestration using “socat”.
** Assisted in architecting and staging a remote RDP tunneling environment through Server Automation giving GUI and command line access to remote Windows and Solaris/Red Hat UNIX environments previously untouchable.

Architect/Senior Systems Engineer in Sun's U.S. Cable Region and Time Warner Account
(09/2004 – 03/2009)
Responsible for the development and implementation of technical sales strategies for U.S. Cable Region Accounts and various Time Warner properties. Developed solutions based on customer business goals and technical requirements. Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of relationships with key technology decision makers within customers' organizations.

* Lead Architect for a $1.6 million dollar competitive IO benchmark win with an aggressive timeline. Sale consisted of 2 @ Sun HDS 9990 and 2 @ Sun Fire 6900 servers.
* Successfully developed and implemented a $1.5 million dollar competitive storage based IO Benchmark environment on a Sun M8000, STK 6140 Storage Arrays, and a SL8500 Tape Arrays. Sale consisted of 2 @ STK SL8500s and 2 @ Sun M8000.
* Successfully engaged and developed AOL Search Video, as a new customer, resulting in a $500,000 purchase of 2 @ Sun Blade 8000 platforms.
* Successfully engaged TWC in the evaluation of Sun's CMT based T2000 / T1000 servers for their OpenWave Messaging platform. Purchase consisted of several hundred T2000 and T1000 servers worth approximately $3.5 million.
* Successfully engaged TWC in the evaluation of Sun's x86 servers for their updated Unified Networking environment. Purchase consisted of 155 x86 servers worth approximately $1.0 million

Senior Systems Engineer (07/2003 – 09/2004)
Provided onsite technical management, systems engineering, integration expertise, and technical sales support for Sun at Comcast in Mount Laurel, NJ. Heavy emphasis on infrastructure planning including rack planning, infrastructure consumption planning, and performance monitoring / tuning.

* Developed an Excel spreadsheet detailing rack placement, power/RU/heat displacement, and PSU draw/failure analysis which reduced the time required to do physical rack infrastructure development by 50%.

Supported variety of project managers on both internal and external projects. Responsibilities included but not limited to systems engineering, infrastructure planning, and integration expertise.

* Successfully managed team of administrators in achieving an on average 99.9% uptime for the UCCNet Program environment.
* Designed and managed the successful implementation of the system architecture of the WorldCom OnNet Online (www.dstreet.com) application environment under very tight timeframes and adverse conditions.
* Designed and managed the successful implementation of the system architecture that was put in place for BET.com.
* Onsite manager for 3 administrators reducing ticket closure times by 30% by implementing better practices centered on phone skills, diagnostic processes, and documentation standards within tickets.

Provided onsite technical and sales support for a variety of primarily Department of Defense customers. Majority of engagements in service of Sun Professional Services. Customers included DoD (Various), AT&T, Bell Atlantic, VISA Interactive, National Defense University, Legg Mason, NASD, US Department of Agriculture, Virginia Department of Transportation, National Naval Information Management Center
