Provide guidance and technical support to local governments and organizations regarding stormwater management through LID and BMPs statewide. Compose, implement, and report on work plans for Chesapeake Bay Regulatory and Accountability Program (CBRAP), CB Implementation Grant (CBIG), and CB Local Implementation Fund (LIF). Develop, implement, and administer WV BMP and Land Use Change Tracking System to verify, track, and report stormwater BMPs to the Chesapeake Bay Program through the National Environmental Exchange Network (NEIEN). Participate in Chesapeake Bay Program expert panel and advisory committees evaluating research results, needs, and policy implications.Voting member of the Chesapeake Bay Land Use and Stormwater work groups using research findings to develop and implement protocols and policies.Develop, evaluate, and incorporate guidance for/provided by the Chesapeake Bay Program and scientifically sound developments in stormwater management into CB and WV guidance documents and training materials.Represent WV DEP to present findings and updates at CB and national conferences.

Ensure efficient and accurate laboratory operations through funding proposals, budgeting, maintaining inventory, hiring and training staff, outsourcing, and reporting. In charge of all aspects, including purchasing, analysis, reporting, safety, training, standard operating procedures, equipment maintenance, education, and customer care. Provide technical assistance to wine industry members regarding their wine making practices and equipment. Identify solutions and train vintners to maximize quality and minimize faults.Detailed analysis of grapes and wine samples.Development of the Iowa Vintners Quality Alliance certification program and protocols, and creation of a sensory analysis panel including Institutional Review Board compliance and recruitment/training of panel members. Institute For Combinatorial Discovery - Ames Laboratory

Doctoral research at a National Laboratory.Responsible for the development and characterization of novel Carbon-based Optically Transparent Electrodes (C-OTEs) for single molecule detection using spectroelectrochemistry and chip scale Electrochemically Modulated Liquid Chromatography (EMLC) Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) device. Focus on coating modifications and surface chemistry to achieve desired properties. Research activities were multifaceted and required independent thinking and decision making. Integrate electrochemistry, spectroscopy, and chromatography.Develop and characterize carbon electrode material and methods Train and supervise others on various methods and instrumentation including electrochemistry, photolithography, pyrolysis, UV-Vis, evaporator, and etching.Independently operate instrumentation including AFM, SEM, CVD, FTIR, and lasers.Adhere to safety and regulations within a USDOE laboratory.Actively participate in weekly R&D and publication/presentation review meetings.Present research findings at conferences and in publications (for example at the Pittsburgh Conference and in Analytical Chemistry, 78, 2816-2822). Senator serving chemistry grad students as liaison at the ISU Graduate and Professional Student Senate.Two years of teaching undergraduate chemistry students. Being part of a large research group (~15 grad students, 5 post-docs, 3 associate scientists) working on DARPA, DOE, NASA, NIH, and NSF funded projects allowed access to a vast array instrumentation and expertise. Housed within the Department of Energy Ames Laboratory, our research group facilities also included a microscopy center and Class 10 clean room.
