I decided to take a break from mobile development and direct my skills to a new area: Data. I worked on Shopify's largest and most complex data pipeline which forms the backbone of almost all data products at Shopify.

I worked on the two flagship mobile apps at Shopify (Shopify Mobile, Point of Sale) but also worked on new app prototypes and experimental concepts. My contributions were mostly native iOS development but also included some Android (Java) as well as some mobile web experiments (Javascript).

As a software architect at Macadamian, I was the technical lead on multiple projects that spanned a wide variety of technology and industries. I lead the high level design and architecture of software projects, but my responsibilities also included:- Overseeing project implementation- Team mentoring- Safeguarding code quality- Establishing and continuously.

Developed custom tools for the Chief Review Services, DND's internal audit branch. Projects ranged from developing web based management systems used across the department to facilitating data mining services to auditors.

We worked on figuring out what this "web" thing could do during the early days of the information superhighway. Projects ranged from commercial websites to large computer based training modules for INCO Inc. This was full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
