Seven-month innovation project in the transportation planning space as part of my Master's Degree. The project aimed to answer the question: "𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘣𝘦 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴?" I was the team's software engineer and was responsible for developing a high-fidelity prototype of an AR mobile application. ✦ Tested software prototype with 25+ participants using Participatory Design, Usability Testing, Heuristic Evaluation, and Observation to gather feedback and insights. ✦ Built three software prototype iterations (low, mid & high fidelity) in Unity with C# scripting and Google's Geospatial API, working closely with UI/UX designers using Figma to ensure a seamless and engaging user interface. ✦ Designed four transit infrastructure street scenes, including a street, a bus lane, a bike lane, a bus stop, a cyclist, and pedestrians using SketchUp 3D design software. ✦ Showcased our work to senior stakeholders from Teague, Mitsubishi Americas, and CDM Smith, demonstrating the value and potential of our AR solution.

As the first intern at the University of St. Gallen’s new Institute of Computer Science, I worked on Natural Language Processing projects in Prof. Siegfried Handschuh’s research Group. ✦ Analyzed the neural network architecture and natural language intent-matching user interface of Mycroft, an early open-source voice assistant. ✦ Evaluated the feasibility of using Mycroft’s architecture for the research group’s own projects. ✦ Developed algorithms for natural language processing applications to support the doctoral students’ research (Multi-Word Expression Detection/Similarity Matching).

DataLab St. Gallen was an initiative I helped create during my undergraduate studies at the University of St. Gallen that followed the motto of “𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀”. I worked on three projects where I developed prototypes using various skills and tools, such as: ✦ Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy) for data manipulation and cleaning. ✦ Web services (APIs) for data integration and extraction. ✦ SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostGreSQL, MSSQL, MongoDB) for data storage and retrieval. ✦ Flask framework and Python scripts for web development and deployment. ✦ Cosine similarity and Word2vec for natural language processing. ✦ Prototype presentation and delivery to clients and their internal tech teams.

As a leader at DataLab St. Gallen, I held secondary project management roles in three agile software development projects, next to acting as a software engineer. ✦ Led a natural language processing project for a Swiss sustainability consulting boutique and served as Agile Product Owner during the development phases. ✦ Served as Scrum Master on two projects for a German radio station and a Paraguayan NGO. ✦ Shaped the company’s work ethics and strategic roadmap by working on operational and strategic issues. ✦ Generated enough revenue to cover all our project expenses and as a team attend data science conferences and workshops to network and deepen our skills.

As an IT assistant for the Institute for Information Management, a research institute at the University of St. Gallen with 45 employees, I performed various IT duties and supported the head of IT in daily operations. ✦ Operated a Help Desk and resolved first- and second-level IT issues for an average of five tickets/day. ✦ Managed a hardware check-out system and prepared workspaces and IT orientations for new employees. ✦ Ensured the functionality of the meeting and classroom AV equipment. ✦ Ordered computer hardware from the university’s central IT department. ✦ Led a process improvement project to redesign the HR and IT software systems for employee entry and exit.

Participated in the Impact Hub Zurich’s Summerpreneurship program as an intern and secured a summer internship at engageability, a small sustainability consulting company. ✦ Analyzed sustainability reports of 20 large Swiss corporates; collected data in Microsoft Excel, and contributed to Focused Reporting, a project that aims to compare and benchmark the sustainability efforts of more than 100 Swiss corporates. ✦ Found and resolved inconsistencies in the analysis framework, proposed and implemented changes. ✦ Gained insights into various CSR and sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, WBCSD, SASB, GapFrame, ESG) and applied them to evaluate the performance and impact of different companies ✦ Discussed and presented the analysis results in a workshop with 50+ company representatives and received positive feedback on the quality and clarity of the report. ✦ Attended summer school in entrepreneurship and impact-oriented thinking at Impact Hub Zürich and learned about topics such as Ideation, Design Thinking, Lean Business Modeling, and Future of Work.
