About Shannon Carney

When I tell people that I am a math teacher, the overwhelming response is, "why in the world would you do that?" Here's why.Math is the beautiful intersection of critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical reasoning. Big mathematical problems are group-worthy; they bring teams together and press them to work cooperatively as a community until they can experience the satisfaction of coming to a solution together. The intrinsic motivation I feel when I have a good problem in front of me drives me to success, and teaching people to solve their own problems, that's the biggest privilege in the world.
