My engagement with Ausnet Services continued to deliver the following projects:• Virtualisation of corporate F5 devices (F5 GTM and LTM to F5 Big-IP DNS VE / F5 LTM VE).• Migration of critical SCADA Cisco ASA firewalls (5520 to 5525-X).• Migration of virtual server test bed hosted within the US to local infrastructure with IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling.• Physical to virtual migration of Check Point management servers.• Cisco ISE integration with Active Directory and Cisco WLC for centralized user authentication.

AMI Remediation ProgramMy engagement with Ausnet Services was for the remediation of the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) network. This network is responsible for the control and monitoring of over 500,000 smart meters across the state of Victoria and was lacking the required physical and logical redundancy. The project required analysis of the current state of the environment and subsequent re-design of the head end firewall cluster, switching and routing infrastructure, and virtualisation of application load balancing appliances to meet the required market obligations.Role Responsibilities• Act as the network design authority in the production of high level and detailed designs and implementation plans.• Lead the technical delivery of customer solutions in line with functional and non-functional / technical requirements based on expertise across one or more vendor technologies.• Develop end-to-end architecture across all platforms (data networks and internet with routing and switching, wireless and security).• Review project deliverables produced by adjacent architecture teams (SAD) and other technical deliverables (HLD/DLD).• Work closely with operational staff within the business to transition new solutions. Provide a high level of written and verbal communication with internal and external businesses.• Manage and liaise with external service integrators and vendors for project delivery and assess capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements.Technical Delivery• Consolidation of 3 x 2 node Juniper SRX 3600 clusters (intra DC) into a 2 x Check Point 5600 node cluster (inter DC) as per security and architecture standards.• Virtual switching segmentation on Cisco N7K infrastructure.• Development of F5 virtual routing contexts and virtual servers while migrating from F5 Viprion to F5 LTM VE.

Role Responsibilities• Support and manage of a nationwide enterprise environment of 400+ devices including Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco/Checkpoint firewalls and F5 load balancers.• Act as a Subject Matter Expert across one or more vendor technologies (Checkpoint, Cisco, Juniper)• Review project deliverables produced by adjacent Architecture teams (SAD) and other Technical Deliverables (HLD/DLD)• Provide advisory services to customers on request. • Work in both a corporate environment and in a high availability SCADA real-time system environment.• Design, test and implement networking solutions to meet business requirements.• Work in a team environment as well as autonomously depending on project assignment. • Be a point of escalation outside of business hours.• Provide input and recommendations relating to capacity planning of network infrastructure.• Provide recommendations for the reduction of operational costs of network infrastructure.• Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) to assess and validate impacts and ascertain that processes are followed to adhere to ITIL standards.• Assist PMO in preparation of statements of work, business case development, estimation etc.Additional projects (design and implementation):• Interstate SCADA data centre relocation (Checkpoint, Astaro, Cisco devices).• Implementation of Checkpoint IDS infrastructure, HTTPS inspection and security reporting across corporate, SCADA distribution, transmission and AMI networks.• Establishing international private connections (VPLS with IPSEC VPN).• Consolidation of SCADA Checkpoint firewall clusters.• Establishment of branch offices and critical SCADA sites.
