For 10 years up to 2011, David was managing director of Thomson Cruises (now Marella Cruises) and led its growth to become one of the UK's largest cruise lines. He left parent company TUI to set up Travelyields in late 2011 to help organisations of all sizes involved in the cruise industry to enhance commercial performance. As well as acting individually, David has acted as lead consultant putting teams together for large, multi-dimensional projects. Through Travelyields, David works with cruise lines, destination tourist boards, cruise ports and potential investors. Much of his work involves either creating bespoke reports for cruise ports seeking to expand, and/or helping destinations and ports market themselves to cruise lines, with emphasis understanding cruise line objectives and their itineraries. However, as well as his time as managing director of Marella Cruises, he has worked alongside four other cruise lines in a consultancy capacity. David has become the "go to expert" for CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association - The Industry Global Trade Body) on cruise itinerary planning workshops for ports, destinations and other industry suppliers.
