Who is Venessa?Venessa is a passionate, impactful and relatable Professional Speaker that has a heart to stop suicide. As a dedicated and driven Mental Health Advocate, Venessa has sought to spread mental health and suicide awareness around the Nation by touring and having Mental Health Conferences and Workshops. What is Venessa's Why?Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the world. This epidemic is growing greater in numbers by the day. Suicide does not discriminate, and no one is exempt from it. If a person is properly educated and the mental illness is caught in time, suicide is preventable and treatable. Now as a survivor, and sibling-survivor, Venessa has made it her mission to help families heal and educate others about the realities of mental illness, depression and suicide prevention, through National Speaking Mental Health Tours.Venessa's ValuesVenessa values life! Her passion is to touch the souls that are hopeless and are in a dark place and space holistically!TestimonialVenessa has proven to be a professional speaking powerhouse, engaging her crowds and commanding attentiveness and interest. But don’t just take our word for it, but that of those whom she has made a significant impact on with the experience she has provided them at events:“Venessa, I wanted to sincerely thank you for serving as our guest speaker for our Community Gathering. Your willingness to share your time and expertise in the area of: Depression, Mental Health and Suicide was beyond amazing but imperative to the population we serve. Our residents felt connected and genuinely embrace your authenticity. We are all grateful and elated you took time out of your busy agenda to provide us with awareness, education and most importantly, knowledge.”- Atlanta Community Program ManagerEmail: stopsuicide@sd-ppp.comwww.sd-ppp.org

SDPPP is a Community-Based organization (CBO) that prepares individuals, families and communities to provide suicide prevention through training, support, resources and referrals for those at-risk for or impacted by suicide. Based in Duluth, GA, SDPPP engages in suicide education workshops, seminars, and coaching (small group and one on one) in Metro Atlanta, GA; and, has served as the subject matter expert in conferences held in other select cities around the country. SDPPP offers promising programs that help trusted adult gatekeepers to be ready to respond to youth who are at-risk; and adults, families and community-based organizations to respond to adults, particularly middle-age adults who are at-risk. A promising program is a program offered by a CBO that engages in localized community support independent of the government. These programs are created in response to their community’s most pressing need, and they facilitate services to address those needs. CBOs bring awareness to pressing issues and offer hands-on solutions to help community stakeholders and concerned residents reach individuals that openly express need, and those that are hard to reach or identify; for example, those who have suicidal thoughts, but no visible behavior yet; or those who have made suicidal attempts that have gone unnoticed. Mental health supportive organizations like SDPPP work to bring awareness to suicide, it’s warning signs, and of clinical and community preventive services available. In harmony with the Surgeon General’s Report and the Georgia’s Suicide Prevention Plan Strategy for Suicide Prevention 2015 – 2022, SDPPP’s broad goal is to foster healthy and empowered individuals, families, and communities through advocacy, education and training to save lives and end suicide. SDPPP’s recommendations for zero suicides include: 1. Advocacy, Education and Training2. Coordination of Resources and Referrals3. Crisis Line4. Mobile Crisis Unit
