This job provided many challenges in the years I've worked here. Initially, my primary objective was to establish a centralized backup system, ensuring the safety and security of the vast amount of data managed by the company. A lot of work went into improving monitoring systems, ensuring that our team can swiftly respond to incidents.After that came the time for automating tasks. Managing a few hundred stores across the country wouldn't be possible otherwise. I developed a Python-based tool to automate Mikrotik router configuration, which offloaded the task to tech support without compromising security. Ansible was heavily used to introduce changes to POS terminals.The outbreak of COVID-19 prompted a reevaluation of the company's priorities, with an emphasis on online sales. While trying to improve user experience, scale our website according to the growing demand, and identify bottlenecks, our team tested various software solutions, such as GitLab, ELK, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Consul, etc. Some of the technologies made it to our stack, some didn't, yet many are still in the testing phase and we might use them later.

As a solo system administrator I've had to manage everything IT-related in the company. From making sure that everything works as expected for my colleagues to negotiating better deals with service providers. Some of the more interesting experiences were opening new offices, building a web application for designers to keep their work in a centralized location, and having to improve UX for the corporate website.
