Senior Technologist | Director Of Engineering At Sandisk India Ddc Pvt Ltd, A Western Digital BrandSandisk® Oct 2017 - PresentBangaloreProject -1 :- The NVMe-oF Hardware off-loaded SmartNIC Development.======================================================It is a NVMe-oF hardware offloaded SmartNIC which acts as bridge b/w NVMe-oF and NVMe in target and initiator modes. Thus, it controls both ends of the wire for better efficiency. The data plane is hardware offloaded in the ASIC to maximize the performance. It supports RoCE and TCP as NVMe-oF protocols. Project Responsibilities:-• Architected and designed the “Hardware Root-Of-Trust [RoT]” & “TLS security” solutions for this NVMe-oF SmartNIC. • Architected and designed a “Discovery” feature for this Initiator mode NVMe-oF SmartNIC card to support the Management Plane tools.• Working on critical customer escalations & high priority release issues.Project -2 :- Composable and Disaggregated NVMe-oF All-Flash-Array (AFA) SAS based JBoD Development.=====================================================================The Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK) is an open-source storage stack which is architecture to best suit for high-performance & low-latency NVMe SSDs. It is a lockless user-space stack based on “polling” design. The OpenFlex is a brand new NVME-oF (RoCEv2) AFA product platform from WD based on SPDK stack.Project Responsibilities :-• Architected and designed the “Storage Block Virtualization” stack for OpenFlex with features like NVMe-over-TCP, FUSE’d commands, dynamic growing of volumes etc.,• Architected and designed a “Non-disruptive data-migration solution for OpenFlex” products.• Designed and demonstrated a PoC of 2-way clustering using pacemaker with Coro-sync stack.• SAS Enclosure feature development. • Developed a fault-inject framework for SAS based JBoD product. -
Staff EngineerSeagate Technology Oct 2016 - Sep 2017Bengaluru Area, IndiaProject :- ClusterStor Management Solution (CSM).===================================== The ClusterStor is a storage product architectured for High-Performance Computing (HPC) domain. The ClusterStor Management (CSM) is a management framework to manage the ClusterStor products. The CSM module is developed using Python and other open source tools, like nodes-monitor (pdsh), Icinga (H/w monitoring), puppet (configuration management) etc.,Project Responsibilities :-• My primary responsibility is to own and enhance the nodes-monitor module which is responsible for monitoring health-status, power-status, file-system status etc., of all the nodes in a scale-out ClusterStor environment.• I've initiated and implemented a project called ClusterStor Logging Framework (a.k.a. CLF) which enables distributed module-based logging using Linux's SyslogNg framework. -
Member Technical StaffNetapp Jun 2010 - Oct 2016Bengaluru Area, IndiaProject :- Distributed Scale-Out SCSI Target Development in Clustered DataONTAP.============================================================== The SCSI target module is a distributed kernel component in the scale-out SAN solution of NetApp’s cDOT product. The SCSI target is a component that provides “Target-side” functionalities of SCSI service delivery subsystem. The cDOT SAN product architecture is very unique that it distributes “SCSI protocol” processing by using distributed task-sets. Project Responsibilities :-• My primary responsibility is to drive road-map of SCSI target modules’ end-to-end data-plane across various releases by collaborating with geographically distributed teams.• I’ve worked on projects that addresses distribute processing challenges. They are “Logical Unit Group Resync”, “Cluster Partition Tolerance”, “Bulk Volume Mobility” enhancements etc., • I’ve involved in resolving various critical customer escalation issues by providing short-term solutions & long term fixes to improve overall product quality.* I’ve also worked along with NetApp’s T10 representative in reviewing & contributing to new T10 spec proposal like In-Band vVOL proposal, etc• I’ve taken responsibility to hire & ramp up new team members for SCSI-Target module & mentored them to achieve team goals.• I’ve also worked as a primary review approver of architecture/design specifications for various projects that involves SCSI target module.* I've also worked in NetApp's legacy 7-mode SAN product as a SCSI-target developer. -
Senior Software EngineerHewlett-Packard May 2008 - Jun 2010Bengaluru Area, IndiaProject : Linux Open-Source Multipath Development.====================================== The “Multipath’g” is a host based high-availability software solution that ensures fault tolerance by managing multiple paths in a storage environment. The project is aimed to provide native-multipath solution to HP arrays. Project Responsibilities :-• I’ve worked as a “Open Source Co-coordinator” with Novell and RedHat teams.• My responsibility is to work with HP array product teams to collect & understand the requirements for various releases and plan the project & leading the team for on-time delivery of multipathing solutions for disk array product launch.• Designed & implemented product features like “Least pending I/O path load balancing policy” etc.,• I’ve also handled customer escalations and ensured resolution within stipulate SLA. -
Software EngineerAdaptec May 2007 - May 2008Bengaluru Area, IndiaProject : Sync-Mirroring Solution for an iSCSI Product.======================================= The “sync-mirroring” is a high availability feature of a storage array. The HA is achieved by synchronously copying/mirroring data between master and slave snap servers. Project Responsibilities :-• My responsibility is to own “Sync-Mirroring” feature.• I had taken additional responsibility to implement Persistent Reservation (PR) feature for a snap server products. -
Software EngineerWipro Technologies May 2004 - May 2007Bengaluru Area, IndiaProject 1: Storage Tape Library Virtualization Development.===========================================Technology :- Storage Tape Library Virtualization, Storage Data Back-up, SCSI protocol. The “VSM Open” is the product based on this “storage tape virtualization” technology. The objective is to virtualize the tape library product by emulating the tape library. Whenever the backup data gets scheduled, it is copied first into primary storage (disk devices) and then to secondary storage (Tape drives) later. Project Responsibilities:-• I had worked in a kernel module called “TDE (Tape Drive Emulation)”. The main functionality of this module is to emulate the behaviour of the real tape drive. All the drive related SCSI commands are handled in this subsystem.• I’ve primarily involved in development of this TDE thru various releases. I’d also worked in client specific enhancements for this module including designing new requirements.Project 2: FCIP Storage Protocol Development.==================================Technology :- FCIP protocol, FC protocol. The FiberChannel-over-IP (FCIP) provides a mechanism to “tunnel” FC frames over IP network. The main objective of this project is to implement the FCIP feature on an “iSCSI based SAN Router”. The primary usecase of FCIP is to connect geographically isolated FC-SAN islands over widely available IP-based network.Project Responsibilities:-• I had involved in FCIP stack development and contributed in coding, bug fixing etc.,
