In an earlier life I worked for Oprah, was a fledgling restaurant critic in Chicago and, for four fateful months at 21, a TV news reporter in Kansas, where I developed a unique appreciation for the nuance of parking meter complaints.The connective thread in my work and life is an incorrigible curiosity about humanity in all its complex, dizzying wonder; I'm at home in the grey space. Raised in Montreal, Vancouver, and Chicago, I have two passports, a degree in journalism from Northwestern, and zero sense of direction. I will nearly never say no to Mexico or a well-lit restaurant.
