Transtechnology is a company making software development around a specialized CAD for furniture stores and manufacturers (known as InSitu and KitchenDraw). Nowadays the company is engaged in further development and sales and support of the software product that is successful for more than 30 years.The development team in the company is small, and therefore there is no rigid division of people into a project manager, system architect, and developer. The choice of roles for each project is carried out according to the competencies suitable for a particular project. There is also no division into senior, middle, and junior among developers: we only have specialists who know their business clearly above the middle level, and everyone, including me, has experience in several related disciplines from the field of software development, as well as some background related to the furniture selling and manufacturing. We all make one product, and we all grow while making it. Our approach to development is in many ways similar to agile.I have been on the team for about three years (I am writing this in May 2021). I focus mainly on increasing the extensibility of KitchenDraw: so that the clients can implement new functionality in the software for their own needs when necessary. I am also involved in KitchenDraw-related projects that we do for the largest clients.

These days, I was running small to mid-scale software development projects on my own for the clients coming from the furniture manufacturing area.The projects were of different kinds:- MFC-based 2D CAD application for designing wardrobes- Several applications for production planning and billing - with the implementation of their own domain-specific languages ​​for describing business logic and for calculating production rates (the first versions of the language were back up by interpreters described in yaxx/bison, the later versions employed coco/r to compile the expressions into an intermediate code for performance reasons)- A small client-server CAD/CAE application for interactive furniture design and semi-automatic productioning.- There were several complex automation projects of small furniture factories at the start - based on extending of 1C:Enterprise accounting solution for furniture-related particularities, employing KitchenDraw for furniture sales, and the development of individual solutions for more specific tasks, and with the subsequent mutual integration of all the systems.Most of my individual applications were built in Qt, there are several bigger .NET and MFC applications. Everything is for Windows.
