All software developers are problem solvers, as a performance engineer with 24 years experience, I do so with an emphasis on the technology’s performance. My performance conscious approach enables me to develop performance critical applications. Another less obvious advantage is that the solutions are budget friendly. Performance tuning maximizes the solution’s utilization of resources, thus reducing the demand for additional servers, storage, memory, etc.. The end result is a lower cost of operation. My time as an IBM performance analyst has allowed me to focus on very complex code bases including the AIX operating system, virtualization, various cloud technologies, filesystems, device drivers, and storage subsystems. I have also worked to improve the performance of enterprise level applications with multiple customers, analyzing the entire solution stack including hardware, middleware, OS, virtualization, and application. My experience with these various technologies enables me to solve difficult problems in creative ways. I pride myself in being able to take the bigger picture into consideration such as customer impacts, business implications, and market fit, when working on technology solutions. I have strong communication skills, that I leverage to present and communicate with the various stakeholders throughout the development process, whether it is in management, marketing or fellow engineers, and mold my message accordingly. In short, I am a highly experienced senior software engineer capable of solving complex problems in creative ways, while reducing operational costs through performance conscious designs.
Listed skills include Virtualization, Shell Scripting, Unix, Software Development, and 22 others.
