CulturePlex Lab is a research laboratory for Cultural Complexity and Digital Humanities from the University of Western Ontario (Canada). They do research on digital innovation, content analytics, lean big data, social media, and digital humanities. They are working on several multidisciplinary projects, most of them open source.During my time there I was involved in a couple of Django based projects:- Sylva: an open source Graph Database Management System built on Neo4j. I collaborated developing new features and doing some refactorings, mainly in the front-end, but also in the back-end.- Yutzu: a collaborative tool for publishing multimedia contents in a community-driven platform. I redesigned the main parts of the website, developed new features and did lots of refactorings, both in the back-end and the front-end. In fact I worked as a full-stack developer, doing also some typical sysadmin tasks like configuring servers, caches, cron jobs, bash scripts, etc.Technologies used: python django javascript html5 postgresql neo4j linux

They were known in Spain as one of the major contributors to the Open Source community, in particular to the Python community. They based their business in open source technologies like Linux and Python.During my time there I was involved in a couple of Django based projects:- Andalucia.org: the official tourism portal of Andalucía, one of the most well-known regions from Spain. I collaborated developing new features and doing some refactorings, both in the back-end and the front-end.- VoicePlate: an interactive web builder tool with responsive design. Mowento was a spin-off from the University of Seville and one of the first startups from Seville to focus their business in mobile technologies.During my time there I was involved in a couple of side projects: I developed Postalea, a web app to send real and customized postcards from your personal photos on Facebook. And I also collaborated to develop a Q&A website based on the open source OSQA.Technologies used: php symphony javascript html css apache mysql
