Seth Birch is an artist who completed his undergraduate degree at Xavier University, studying art and art history. During his time at Xavier he completed a study abroad program in Germany, influencing his creative direction. Currently seeking meaningful opportunities that further his understanding of the world and getting to know other people and cultures. Understanding the nature of art in an international and intimate way. Wanting to develop connections and explore the changes of life and the catalyst of new iterations in his art.Art allows for change, reflection, ascetic beauty. Making provocative art and installations can achieve meaningful discourse and reflection. Pursuing the themes of mental health, the anthropocentric and nature in his work he seeks to understand and come to terms with the world and what is going on within it. The discourse he wants to create is that of internal reflection of what is happening outside. Coming from a middle-class, blue collar upbringing, he has been creating his entire life. Not only out of want but of need. The need to distract from hard times and the hopes to be of value to others. The artist is coming to terms with the ramifications of the past, through the creation of art in themes that conjure memories, hope, expectations, betrayal, vice and more. It started with origami and duct tape crafts on a farm in rural Ohio. Now seeking to understand the world through art and experience. Influenced by his mentors through this journey, his uncle, instructors, friends and experiences. As an emerging artist he is also learning more and more about the cohort of contemporary artist that hold a plethora of knowledge. Culminating with the use of many different mediums to have a narrative driven body of work the artist hopes to achieve discovery both inner and outer enlightenment.
