Conducting laboratory bench top experiments comparing hydraulic and thermal fracturing in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). This consist of stimulating large blocks of Granite, Acrylic, and Mortar. I then compare the experimental results with analytical and computational models. The computational model is a Thermoelastic Finite Difference code written in matlab that applies a Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics failure criterion to non-porous media. I am also the resident mechanical engineer at EGI, so I help with the design and manufacturing of other experimental apparatuses.
