My name is Seth Lee, and I am a senior at Florida Institute of Technology pursuing a meteorology degree. After graduating, I would like to work in the private weather forecasting sector, the National Weather Service, or as a disaster planning meteorologist. At Florida Tech, I am the Vice president of the American Meteorological Society Chapter at Florida Tech. I am also a contributing forecaster for the Panther Weather Service, which provides weather forecasts for Florida Tech and the Space Coast region of Florida. I have been an active member of the American Meteorological Society since 2020 and have attended two AMS student conferences, with plans to attend the 2025 student conference. While attending Florida Tech, I completed multiple projects related to meteorology. I plan to present one of my projects at the American Meteorological Society Student Conference in 2025. This research project looked at how an abnormally strong tornado outbreak affected residential communities in Centeral Florida and how the state responded to this unusual weather event. For the past two summers, I have interned at NickelBlock Forecasting, a website and app that provides the most accurate weather forecast possible. My job as an intern is to create different types of weather forecasts, such as local, national, and tropical forecasts. To make these forecasts, I sometimes take data from the website Storm Vista and decode it with Python and Excel. I also publish and summarize research relative to meteorology.
