About Seth Crosby

I am very sorry for all the anger I have caused. I was NOT tweeting about the Palestinian people, who have suffered for decades and are suffering terribly now. It is completely heartbreaking. I was referring only to Hamas, who killed some friends, and is the target of Israel. My role at Washington University often consists of bridge-building between disparate communities. Chiefly, I teach current and next generation DNA/RNA analysis technologies to the pre-clinical and clinical community. Physicians have access to a resource which is growing more valuable with every passing month – patients. These physicians are eager to participate in correlative research, and I provide them the design and technical information to do so. However it is not just to physicians that I “translate technology”. I speak to bioinformaticians, basic scientists, students and even charitable donors who are interested in directly supporting research.Specialties: Functional genomicsDrug discoverySequencingAntisenseGeneticsMicroarray

Director, Research Collaborations

St. Louis, Mo, Us

The Department of Genetics at Washington University boasts a combination of thought-leaders and cutting edge technology. My job is to have a deep understanding of both in order to marry these with new collaborators. If necessary, I assist in the design and analysis of projects. I am in steady touch with the entire biomedical community at WashU and am happy to provide mutually beneficial introductions to any of our faculty.

Nov 2017 - Jul 2024

Director, Genome Technology Access Center

St. Louis, Mo, Us

The Genome Technology Access Center (GTAC) was conceived of by Jeff Milbrandt, Chair of Genetics at Washington University, to establish DNA/RNA analysis resources for researchers at Washington University and beyond. We currently provide NextGen sequencing (2 HiSeqs), microarray (all formats) and quantitative PCR. We provide analysis services with all these technologies.

2010 - Oct 2011

Director Of Translational Research

St. Louis, Mo, Us

I am currently the Director of Translational Research at the Genome Sequencing Center at Washington University.Previous to my current role...for 3 years I have run the microarray core at Washington University School of Medicine. We have added new computational and bench technologies, increased the sensitivity of our technology, established ourselves as an educational resource for both WashU campuses, and provided a means for researchers to both design and analyze these rather complex experiments. Microarray is constantly evolving and diverging, and it is, therefore, not fiscally possible to obtain all available technology for WashU. The future of this Core, therefore, resides in our ability to invest in the technology that we perceive will be of greatest utility to the community. This will require that we remain vigilant to the technological horizon and keep lines of communication open and expanding between the Core and WashU researchers.
