Seven Summits Centre for Learning's mission is to create adventures in learning. The Centre, administered by the Visions for Small Schools Society charity, provides a space for learners to come together, work on the B.C. curriculum supported by certified educators, and provide supplemental programming in music, arts, physical education, environmental stewardship, and life skills.Visions for Small Schools Society is a registered charity. The board administers an educational space within the iconic red roof church in downtown Rossland called Seven Summits Centre for Learning. Youth in grades 8-12 participate in SD71's distance learning program NIDES Navigate. 7S promotes academic excellence by combining award-winning online education with in-class B.C. certified teachers. Beyond just the aim to earn the B.C. Dogwood Certificate of Graduation, many alumni have successfully attended notable post-secondary institutions. Many youths who attend Seven Summits Centre For Learning do so because they do not fit into more traditional public-school systems. This may be due to many reasons, including having an IEP, being high achievers, or needing a flexible learning schedule as they take part in athletic endeavours. At 7S, we see such a diverse population as a huge advantage. However, catering to this diversity requires specialized programming to address potential learner-centred needs and bring students together for a joint mission, "Creating Adventures in Learning."Our students participate in independent learning but are not alone in their journey. Practicing self-efficacy, personal advocacy, and educational responsibility, 7S students show up and accept challenges. Our firm policies against bullying create a safe and welcome atmosphere. Our students are pilots of their personal high school journey and do not accept average. Community mentors work with our students to offer activities, camps, and clubs. In addition, Art, Physical Education, Music, Language, and specialty workshops are free to our students, and we invite external homeschooled students to attend for a small fee.
