Visions for Small Schools Society is a registered charity that administers an educational space called the Seven Summits Centre for Learning, in Rossland, B.C. Youth in grades 8-12 participate in SD71's distance learning program Navigate, and the Centre provides a space for these students to come together to work on their curriculum, along with B.C. certified teachers, with the aim to earn the B.C. Dogwood Certificate of Graduation.
Many of the youth that attends Seven Summits do so because they do not fit into more traditional public-school systems. This may be due to a multitude of reasons including having an IEP, being high achievers, or needing a flexible learning schedule as they take part in athletic endeavours. At Seven Summits, we see such a diverse population as a huge advantage. Catering to this diversity requires specialized programming to address potential learner-centred needs and bring students together for a common mission "Creating Adventures in Learning".
