In this project, I help building the backend of a B2B smart heating solution for the housing industry. My team took over a proof-of-concept, which we developed into a production solution in half a year, when we successfully launched the product. Apart from contributing to the refactoring of our Kotlin/Quarkus micro-services into a scalable and reliable backend, I also work on improving the AWS IoT Core setup and help the team with LoRaWAN challenges, such as building a scalable solution to deploy firmware updates to tens of thousands of IoT end devices. A particular focus was also taken on IaC, reducing any manual platform configuration tasks to an absolute minimum.

In this project at Netlight, I contributed as a DevOps Engineer to help hosting cybersecurity workshops for company consultants and interested clients. My focus was on streamlining the deployment and management of individual workshop environments hosted in AWS. I adapted and deployed a solution for automating the creation of separate web app instances, allowing participants to have a personalized, hands-on learning experience.

I got the opportunity to take my yearlong volunteering for Mini-München even further and help to realize the focus on digitalization in the 2022 edition of Munich's biggest children & youth holiday program. I was the project lead for building an accompanying web application comprising several administrative and social aspects of the event. Thanks to funding from the Bayerischer Jugendring and the Bavarian Ministry for Families and Social Affairs, I could do this full-time. In this project, I gained a lot of experience in coordinating all aspects of software projects. On a technical level, I gained valuable experience in building a microservice-based web application in Kotlin, and deploying it in a Kubernetes cluster.

Helped building a LoRaWAN network in the IoT team of the IT department of Stadtwerke München, a big utilities provider in Munich, Germany. Assisted in the implementation of use cases. Performed system and network operations tasks and implemented device drivers in Go. Implemented auto-recovery for common LoRaWAN gateway network issues, reducing downtime and on-site troubleshooting operations. Established in-depth testing procedures for new software versions.
