Tasked with managing and leading an inter-disciplinary team in the areas of tissue engineering, molecular biology, immunology, magnetic resonance imaging and engineering mechanics for this educational institution of international stature. Collaborates with researchers at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Columbia, Tufts, Center for Cancer Research at the University of Tennessee, and LI-COR Biosciences. Responsible for planning experiments, supervising manuscript submission, overseeing research trials and secured continuous funding to help support daily operation of scientists in the lab; efforts resulted in more than eight peer- reviewed publications. Modified a 9.4T MR scanner by adding new hardware and software for the acquisition of biomechanical images and properties in vivo and ex vivo. Developed and integrated e-incubator with MR scanner for real-time monitoring of stem cell based tissue engineering.  Developed a 3 cm radiofrequency birdcage coil for the diagnosis of inflammatory heart disease. Applied near-infrared optical imaging for monitoring osteogenesis in vitro and in vivo in defect models. Merged proficiency in mechanical engineering and bioengineering to perform novel tasks in preclinical disease diagnosis and regenerative medicine. Member of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.

Applied expertise in high field MRI on a clinical 1.5T Siemens scanner for cardiac imaging.Performed measurement of pulse wave velocity in the thoracic aorta in humans.

Accepted an opportunity to be mentored and work on cardiac imaging research. Performed rodent cardiac imaging on a Bruker 9.4T wide bore scanner using manganese enhanced MRI.

Brought on to perform experiments, supervise graduate students, and teach courses including Statistics, Medical Imaging, Introduction to MRI and Advanced MRI.  Supervised a senior design team to promote osteogenesis in engineered bone constructs using pulsed ultrasound; effort resulted in in a book chapter, conference paper and patent filing. Developed high resolution MR elastography for biomechanical assessment on a Bruker 11.7T scanner. Team led on the application of diffusion tensor imaging on human articular cartilage for the detection of early stages of osteoarthritis.
