SweTree Technologies (STT) is a forest and wood biotechnology company located in Umeå with approximately 30 employees. STT develops, for and together with its customers, products and innovative technologies to improve the value and productivity of trees in the forest industry.My project is concerned with developing commercially viable solutions for cloning of plus trees of Norway spruce through somatic embryogenesis. We are a small, but a multinational team of 7 people. To attain the commercial viability, we are mainly focusing on developing cost-effective solution with high degree of automatization.Responsibilities:• Project lead of the germination platform (GP) sub-project• Planning, performing and evaluation of GP experiments• Training and supervision of 3 members of the GP project• Development and implementation of solutions for germination of somatic embryos• Identification and implementation of R&D systems for automatization of the GP• Review of scientific literature and preparation of laboratory protocols• Assisting with the drafting and review of documents for patent applications • Communication and scientific exchange with project leaders and other teams• Supporting overall project activities, including compilation of internal and external reports for management team and external stakeholders, respectively
