Different factors associated with daily life use can lead to a premature decrease in performance, quality and ultimately reduce the lifespan. Also, they may create safety issues to the wearer due to electric shock, overheating, overshooting, and fire incidents resulting from battery ignition. Hence, ensuring the quality of heating textile products is crucial to protect users’ safety and give them the performance expected over their life cycle.I have tested and characterized various smart materials, including metallic and carbonaceous, while simultaneously addressing all research problems associated with smart textile testing. I have developed testing and quality control methods to assess the service life of smart textiles in collaboration with CTT and CSA Groups, Canada. Also, I have proposed testing protocols to evaluate the safety risks for users of smart textiles. Additionally, I have supervised and mentored two undergraduate interns at the University of Alberta, contributing to the ongoing development of test protocols for smart textiles in collaboration with Mitacs and ELITE, Canada. I have provided hands-on support and guidance to the interns during the testing of smart textiles and concurrently conducted training programs to maximize their effectiveness. Show less
