It’s a truth I’ve lived: Choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. As a nutrition scientist and registered dietitian, I’m reminded every day how great-tasting, wholesome food builds healthier happier lives. I’m happy to make a difference through good nutrition working on behalf beef farmers and ranchers. These hardworking people represent America’s largest segment of agriculture and share my values of faith, family, dedication, honesty, commitment to science, and most of all, doing what is right. Our customers and colleagues know the role a healthy diet can play. Yet, stumbling blocks are rampant and it's hard to translate scientific understandings into responsible marketing and communications programs to help people achieve a healthier lifestyle, especially with today’s complex food system and environment. Meat’s role in the diet is often at the heart of debates on how we achieve healthy, sustainable diets. As a PhD in human nutrition and a Registered Dietitian who has studied this topic for 20+ years, my expertise lies where food, health and agriculture science meet marketing, communication, and education. I work to identify the highest quality scientific research and ensure it’s responsibly communicated through marketing, education, and policy. And I advise the industry on how to continue to make beef part of a healthier diet that offers sustainable nutrition for America and the world.Beef is not my only professional interest. In 2012, I created a consulting business, Nutrition Science Connections, to share my love of translating science into practical advice and tools that can help people and organizations support healthier lifestyles through good nutrition.
