Focused on obesity prevention efforts through work with retail businesses, school districts and elementary schools. Recruited and engaged eligible low-income schools and youth organizations to participate in obesity prevention programs. Connected with principals at participating schools to provide technical assistance and ongoing communication about the school wellness program. Created and deliver teacher trainings based on the train-the-trainer model to empower teachers to conduct nutrition education and physical activity interventions. Promoted Harvest of the Month through taste tests, resource development, and education. Strategic planning for connecting school and retailer partnerships. Coordinated with Lemon Grove HEAL Zone Healthy Market Action Team to create a healthier community through store conversions and retailer education. Coordinated evaluation efforts for retail and school wellness projects. Recruited, trained and oversaw interns in both the Retail and School Wellness programs.

Worked with the Children's Power Play! campaign to provide resources, training, and education for schools and community youth organizations focusing on nutrition and physical activity education for 4th and 5th graders in low-income sites. Trained teachers and community youth organization staff on how to utilize Power Play! materials to teach nutrition and physical activity within their classroom or site. Delivered health education in the classroom and after school events. Developed and delivered presentations to community organizations and potential partners about the Power Play! campaign.

Worked on the nutrition interventions of the CPPW grant funded by the CDC. Interventions included the lactation accommodation project, Fresh Fund with local farmer’s markets, media campaigns, and the People’s Produce project. Responsible for overseeing three work-based programs designed to enhance the work and life skills of adults with disabilities.
