I had been a chef for 21yrs in which I gathered vast experience in a wide variety of catering establishments including gastro pubs, Chinese food, sports clubs, pubs, fine dining....This included head chef roles throughout most of that time.I then started a family and when my son was 2 I wanted a better work life balance so I decided to try my knife skills in a different area of the food industry.I got myself a meat and fish managers job at Morrisons retail, in the 6yrs I was there I got promoted to a duty manager and moved to a bigger training store so I could train new managers to the role to Morrisons standards.After this I decided that the commute to the new store was taking a lot of my life away and In 2021 I applied for the butchery duty managers role at Makro and I believe I am sat rite in the middle of everything I have learned over the years and am loving it. I now sell food to the chefs that I once was so I have good understanding of what the customer wants. This has built a great report and confidence between us and the customer, we also understand what we can do for them to help save them time in the kitchens.Everyone’s a winner!!!
