Shane is a Safe System Specialist who works across the Asia Pacific region and in North America. He has worked in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Fiji, Samoa, Brunei, Canada and USA. He provides advice to clients on how to apply the safe system approach in their jurisdiction. This has included work on InaRAP (Indonesia) KiwiRap, Fiji iRap and Brunei iRap. The InaRAP covers the Indonesian national network of 47,000km. Shane is an experience road safety researcher, having completed a large number of studies for the NZ Transport Agency and Austroads on a variety of subjects. He has lead the development of crash prediction models (safety performance functions) in New Zealand . He has a particular interest in the development of crash prediction models for pedestrian, bike and motorcycle crashes. Shane is also an adjunct senior fellow at the University of Canterbury and also lectures at the University of Auckland.
