I help make the web more accessible to people with disabilities at Optum Technology (UnitedHealth Group) as a web accessibility expert. I get to help teams include accessibility into their development lifecycle. I work directly with developers, designers, QA folk, managers, and owners to ensure accessibility is effectively implemented. I also help with documentation, training materials, tool development, and much more. Previously, I worked at WebAIM (6 years) and Deque (2.5 years).I'm also active in real estate. I had my dream job a few years ago after the real estate crash where I built software to help acquire foreclosed homes. I would spend the early morning developing software and analyzing data, the mornings physically visiting properties to determine value, the days sitting at auction purchasing properties (coding in between sales), and evenings getting properties into rehab.
